New with the Luminous release is the core ceph-mgr daemon, which offers a promising dashboard plugin that is bound to receive considerable attention from the community.

Enabling this dashboard is straightforward:

Edit ceph.conf on each node that runs the ceph-mgr daemon; these are usually the MONs. Add the following section:

[mgr]
mgr_modules = dashboard

Next configure IP addressing on each ceph-mgr server:

# ceph config-key put mgr/dashboard/server_addr ::

The value :: enables the dashboard on port 7000 of each system.

Next restart the ceph-mgr daemon. On systemd-centric distributions this is done with:

$ systemctl restart ceph-mgr@

You should now be able to browse to the dashboard on the active ceph-mgr server's 7000/tcp port.
