Chapter 10
Navigating Through Scenes

Few iPhone apps have only a single scene. Usually, you want to do different things in an app, and the scene changes based on what you’re doing. For example, the Mail app takes you from a list of messages to the contents of one you’ve selected, or the App Store shows you a list of search results and lets you choose one to inspect further and possibly buy.

The key here is the idea of navigating between scenes. We tap on table rows or buttons to drill down into deeper levels of detail, moving from one scene to another. In most cases, we can also navigate back to where we started.

In this chapter, we’ll learn how navigation works on iOS, how we can go from one scene to another and back again, and the different modes iOS offers for presenting our scenes.
