SMARTER – TAPPING INTO MINDSET

Mindset, and more specifically cultivating the right mindset, is a term that's been thrown around a great deal in relation to high performance. When sports stars fail to perform, their mindset is often under the spotlight. When people react negatively to a situation, it's their mindset that's questioned. What about you? Do you ever question your own mindset?

Do you even beat yourself up for having the “wrong” mindset? This part of the book explores our mindsets in detail (spoiler: we have more than one!) and look at how tapping into the right one at the right time enhances our performance and our wellbeing.

By having the “right” mindset, we're able to enter the magical state of flow. Although there's nothing magic about it. Not really. It certainly feels magical when you're in flow, but tapping into and maintaining it is within your control. All you need are some strategies and performance hacks to help you on your way.

When we can do this, we're on our way to becoming our own version of Unashamedly Superhuman. We can have increased confidence and improved mental focus if we simply structure our thinking in the right way.

But where do you start? How do you even restructure your thinking? What does that really mean? Well, it all starts with leaning into situations and learning how to use stress for good (contrary to popular belief, stress has many benefits in the right context). Don't believe me?
