Summary

In this chapter, we configured the layout of our network. We started off with a discussion on planning our network IP address layout, followed by putting that into action by creating our own DHCP server. This discussion included how to split this configuration into multiple subnets, without multiple subnets. We continued with setting up a DNS server so that we can resolve our network nodes by name. We wrapped up this chapter by setting up an NTP server, so we can ensure all of our nodes have the correct time.

In the next chapter, we'll look into hosting web content with Apache.
