Point-in-time restoration key points

The following key points provide more information about point-in-time restoration:

  • When you restore a database, a new database is created, which means that you will have to pay for the new database, too.
  • You cannot provide the new database with the same name as the original database, because the original still exists; to do so, you would have to remove the original one.
  • You can choose a restoration point between the earliest point and the latest backup time, which is six minutes before the current time.
  • The database recovery time varies from one database to another, according to many factors; some of them are as follows:
    • The database's size
    • The number of transaction logs involved in the operations
    • The database's performance level
    • If you are restoring the database from a different region, the network bandwidth might cause a delay
