When you notice that your application is consuming too many of the App Service plan's resources, you can scale the App Service plan up. This gives it more resources so that it can fulfill the application's needs.
When you scale up an App Service plan, you get more hardware resources, such as CPU, memory, and storage.
You will also get more supportability for features, such as the following:
- Custom domain/SSL
- The number of instances you can auto scale to
- The number of staging slots you can have
- The number of daily backups of your applications that you can make
- Traffic Manager
To scale up the App Service plan that your application is a part of, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Azure portal and then to App Service. Choose the App Service you want to scale up and then select Scale up (App Service plan), as shown in the following screenshot:
- Then, select a plan that fits your criteria and click on Apply.
- You can also scale up the App Service plan if you know which plan your application is a part of by navigating to App Service plans. From here, select the App Service plan you want to scale up and click Scale up (App service Plan), as shown in the following screenshot:
- Once you are done, click on Apply.
