Have a Great Flight!

In the introduction to this book, we introduced the metaphor of a rocket launch. We noted that liftoff is the first stage of the rocket’s journey into space. It’s also the first step in your team’s journey to product success and customer value.

We also asked who’ll benefit from reading this book. Only you can answer that question. The real benefit of this book won’t come solely through reading it. It comes through applying what you’ve read to planning, designing, conducting, and continuously improving liftoffs.

We want to help. We hope you’ll contact us with questions, comments, and your stories about liftoff experiences. Find us on the book’s home page[10] and on Twitter at @DianaOfPortland (Diana) and @ainszo (Ainsley).

We end the book with one last in-depth In Practice story, from Steve Holyer. He tells about “stealth” chartering a team in the guise of release planning.

After the story, don’t put the book on your shelf. Keep it nearby. You’ll find useful examples and resources in the appendixes. You’ll find three sample charters to use as examples in your liftoffs, sample agendas for the two chartering meetings, biographies of the authors who contributed In Practice stories, and an extensive bibliography where we’ve pulled together all the books mentioned throughout the chapters.
