I hope you find this short pocket guide an educational and interesting read. This pocket guide is an introduction into the dark world of the business of cybercrime. It is not an in-depth analysis of malicious software code, but rather a foundation level overview to make you, the reader, aware of the existence of this world.

The information for this pocket guide came from many sources, including the Internet, “deep web” (i.e. subscription content), trade conferences, trade literature, and academic publications. I am also fortunate to have many friends who are information security professionals, and who were very kind in sharing their insights with me. This pocket guide is not just a compilation of information, but also a summary and analysis. I hope it whets your appetite enough to want to learn more about this subject.
