This book contains seven short chapters:
Chapter 1: What you need to know about solving problems
Chapter 2: What you need to know about logging in
Chapter 3: What you need to know about running programs
Chapter 4: What you need to know about sharing files
Chapter 5: What you need to know about printing
Chapter 6: What you need to know about space and time
Chapter 7: What you need to know about everyone else
Each chapter ends with a quick-reference page that summarizes procedures from the chapter.
Every UNIX computer site is different. There are procedures that depend on how your site is configured, and commands that may work slightly differently at your office. The quick reference page therefore includes a “worksheet” for you to write down site-specific information. You might get this information by asking your administrator.
Feel free to photocopy these quick reference pages for other users in your office. (That way, not everyone in the office will have to ask the same questions.)
