Acknowledgments

I need to thank many for helping this book become tangible. My interest in this topic extends back to my graduate school days at the University of Minnesota and internships at the Control Data Corporation and Honeywell, Inc. It was further developed working for Cargill, Inc., in the United States, and for Cargill, Plc. as an expatriate in London. Some of the groundwork was done while working on my Ph.D. at the London School of Economics and working at the Centre for Economic Performance at the LSE. It was further developed while teaching at Rutgers and during my summers at the Athens Laboratory of Business Administration in Greece. The actual writing got underway during my time as a Fulbright Scholar at the City University of Hong Kong.

Specifically, I want to thank the following friends and associates: Debra Norman, Doug Kruse, Steve Director, Richard Freeman, Barbara Lee, Charles Fay, Joseph Blasi, Mark Huselid, Randall Schuler, Susan Jackson, Corey Rosen, Olga Epitropaki, Vinney Senguttuvan, Sameer Maskey, Odette–Simone Smolicz, Kwok Leung, Brian Dominick, Kathleen Turco-Lyon, Charlotte Matthews, Laurie Rudman, Bob Jorissen, Rick Synder, Al Bleich, Terry Park, Maya Kroumova, Yu Peng Lin, Rena Morrissey, Amanda Salter, Lorraine Wrafter, James Kohrt, Bob Ernt, Peter Price, Darryl Sjoberg, Ansgar Richter, Steve Machin, Martin Conyon, Alan Manning, David Metcalf, Jonathon Wadsworth, Danny Quah, Richard Layard, Paul Gregg, Shulun Chang-Reuter, Ching-Bin Lin, Ethan Tsai, Arthur Langer, David Murphy, Jack McGourty.
