In this chapter, we have reviewed ways to create Hadoop clusters on demand by using the Elastic MapReduce service from AWS, as well as Apache Whirr. Running Hadoop in a cloud allows users to launch large clusters for short periods of time to process massive amounts of data. You don't have to maintain your own Hadoop infrastructure and most of the cluster configuration steps are automated.
