PMI volunteers first attempted to codify the Project Management Body of Knowledge in the Special Report on Ethics, Standards, and Accreditation, published in 1983. Since that time, other volunteers have come forward to update and improve that original document and contribute the now de facto standard for project management, PMI’s, A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).
The PMBOK® Guide addresses knowledge and practices “generally recognized as good practice on most of the projects most of the time”. Extensions of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) strive to describe project management knowledge and practice in a particular industry or type of project.
The Government Extension to the PMBOK® Guide—2000 Edition describes knowledge and practices that are “generally recognized as good practice” for government projects most of the time. It is applicable to worldwide government projects at the national, state/provincial, and local levels.
This Appendix describes specific contributions of many of the individuals listed below and should be consulted for further information about individual contributions to the project. The Project Management Institute is grateful to all of these individuals for their support and acknowledges their contributions to the project management profession.
C.1 Project Team Organization
Initially a Leadership Team was formed to perform detailed project analysis, planning and a high level outline of the Government Extension to the PMBOK® Guide—Third Edition. Upon completion of these deliverables, the team dissolved and was succeeded by a Project Core Team. The rest of the project team was divided by Chapter Teams as well as Functional Teams.
