By default, the VM compatibility is configured to use the datacenter settings and the host version. In vCenter Server, you can define a default hardware version for VM creation on a host, cluster, or datacenter.
To configure the default hardware version, perform these steps:
- From the vSphere Client, log in to the vCenter Server, right-click on the object to configure, and select Edit Default VM Compatibility.
- In the Compatible with option, using the drop-down menu, select the hardware version to use and click OK to confirm. When a VM is created in this cluster, the default compatibility setting is used.
