Joy Mustafi has 15 years of experience in the industrial, research, and academic sectors.

He completed his graduation in statistics (2000) from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur, West Bengal, and has a postgraduate qualification in computer applications (2003) from the Regional Computer Center, Kolkata. He won the Junior Research Fellowship award in computer and communication sciences from the Indian Statistical Institute (2004).

He joined IBM India in 2006 as an analytics consultant in the business analytics and optimization department. He has been associated with IBM - India Software Lab, Watson Business Group (2013) in continuing research and development of data mining, machine learning, and natural language processing. Joy moved to Global Technology Services in 2014, where he worked in the IT operations analytics department as a data scientist. He has also contributed as an SME to IBM Watson Analytics, IBM SPSS Statistics, IBM SPSS Modeler (with Text Analytics), and others.

He has been a visiting faculty member of different academic organizations. He has to his credit several patents and research publications on cognitive informatics and data science.

Joy founded MUST Research Club in 2015 to work in the field of computer science and informatics, mathematical science and statistics, cognitive science, and psychology. He is president of MUST Research Club, and he mentors technical students and early-level professionals to build their career in data science.

He was recognized as one of the top 10 data scientists in India in 2015 by Analytics India Magazine (http://analyticsindiamag.com/top-10-data-scientists-in-india-2015/).

MUST Research Club is dedicated to promoting excellence and competence in the field of cognitive computing and data science for the benefit of mankind. It aims to promote research and development in cognitive informatics in India and across the globe. It enables interaction between academic institutes and industries, helping them solve problems, as well as making them aware of the latest developments in the cognitive computing and data science sector. The purpose of this is to provide solutions, guidance, and training. MUST organizes lectures, seminars, and workshops, and collaborates on scientific programs and social missions. The most exciting feature of MUST is their fundamental research on cutting-edge technologies, such as data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, speech technology, and other areas.
