ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Liz Heinecke has loved science since she was old enough to inspect her first caterpillar. After working in molecular biology research for ten years, she left the lab to kick off a new chapter in her life as a stay-at-home mom. Soon she found herself sharing her love of science with her three kids and journaling their experiments and adventures on her Kitchen Pantry Scientist website.

These days, Liz appears regularly on television, makes science videos, and writes about science online and in books. Liz’s work includes Kitchen Science Lab for Kids, Outdoor Science Lab for Kids, STEAM Lab for Kids, and Star Wars Maker Lab. When she’s not driving her kids around and doing science outreach, you’ll find Liz at home in Minnesota, singing, playing banjo, painting, running, and doing almost anything else to avoid housework.

Liz graduated from Luther College, where she studied art and biology. She received her master’s degree in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Amber Procaccini is a commercial and editorial photographer based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She specializes in photographing kids, babies, food, and travel, and her passion for photography almost equals her passion for finding the perfect taco. Amber met Liz while photographing Liz’s first book, Kitchen Science Lab for Kids, and she knew they’d make a great team when they bonded over cornichons, pâté, and brie. When Amber isn’t photographing eye-rolling tweens or making cheeseburgers look sexy, she and her husband love to travel and enjoy new adventures together.
