Acknowledgments

I am grateful to the many opportunities that I have been provided to observe and study processes, which has allowed me to learn which process improvement practices are most effective and which attributes of culture are necessary to foster behaviors that support continuous improvement. I am especially grateful to Lord Corporation, where I was given my first opportunity to experience Lean in action, and to my colleague A. Paul Blossom: Our continual dialog has greatly deepened my understanding of Lean.
