You can start the Mail app to open and read the contents of your email messages.
What folders are used to store my messages?
The exact choices you see will vary depending on the type of email you use. Here are the typical mail folders:
Inbox—Stores messages sent to you.
Drafts—Stores messages you have not yet sent.
Important—Stores messages marked with a high priority.
Sent mail—Stores copies of messages you have sent.
Spam—Stores junk messages sent to you.
Trash—Stores messages you have deleted.
Additional folders may appear where you can separate and store your personal messages from work messages and such.
You can print an email message. For example, if someone emails you directions to her house, you might want to print a copy of the email to take with you.
What are some of the additional print settings?
The actual choices vary depending on the printer you selected. Most often, you can set print layout choices such as orientation, collation, and number of pages to print on each sheet of paper.
You can also set the paper size and type and choose which printer paper tray the paper should come from.
Windows Mail examines messages you receive to determine if they are junk mail. Messages that appear to be junk mail are automatically moved to a special Spam email folder.
You can delete a message you no longer need. Deleting messages prevents your folders from becoming cluttered.
You can reply to a message to answer a question, express an opinion, or supply additional information.
If I choose Reply all, how do I know who the message is going to?
When you see the reply message, Windows Mail displays all addresses on the left and in the body of the message. The only exception is if the original message was sent with a Bcc (blind carbon copy); in that case, you will not see any addresses.
After reading a message, you can add comments and then forward the message to a friend, family member, or colleague.
You can quickly and easily send an email message to a friend, family member, or colleague.
When sending a message, you can send a carbon copy (Cc) of a message or a blind carbon copy (Bcc) of a message.
You can flag messages with a High priority, Normal priority, or Low priority to give the recipient a heads-up to the message’s importance.
Windows Mail takes messages flagged with a High priority and copies them to the Important folder, thereby encouraging the recipient to read them first.
You can dress up your message—whether a new message, a reply message, or a forwarded message—by changing the font, font size, or even the text color.
Emoticons are those cute little smiley faces and other iconic characters that you can add to your email messages. Windows Mail provides over 600 different emoticons and divides them into 7 different groups, including smileys, food, travel, and others.
You add an emoticon by clicking in the message where you want the emoticon, right-clicking the mouse, choosing from the App bar, and clicking the emoticon you want.
You can also send documents, spreadsheets, videos, and other types of files.
The pictures are so small I can’t tell which picture I want. Is there a way to view them larger?
Pause your mouse over any image, and a larger preview of the image appears.
You also see additional information about the image, such as type, size, date, and folder location.
