Acknowledgments

Writing a book is a great example of team collaboration. It usually takes a fairly large group of people with diverse roles and inputs to put one together. This project was no exception. In fact, we'd go as far to say everyone working to make this book a reality was collaborating intelligently.

First, we'd like to thank our colleagues at Mural who provided input and reviewed text and images with us. Justin Owings really drove the project forward and accompanied us the entire way—from conception to completion—reading every word and providing thoughtful feedback. We also received feedback in various forms from Mark Tippin, Sunni Brown, Laïla von Alvensleben, Emilia Åström, Chris Pacione, Bill Lucas, Seema Jain, Dustin Stiver, Katie Bullard, Pete Maher, Steve Farrell, Erik Flowers, Steve Schofield, Paul Tomlinson, Helen Odom, Ray Savona, and Jen Standen.

Douglas Ferguson, Laurel Farrer, Joe Lalley, and others in our community provided invaluable external review.

We're also indebted to the talented team at XPLANE for designing the book and creating all of the wonderful artwork throughout: Nancy Sewell, Tim May, and Jeffery Frankenhauser.

A special thank you goes to the team at the Reading List for navigating the project and providing expert editorial support, in particular, Sal Borriello, who made it all happen.

We thank all of our partners who have engaged with us over the years in a broader conversation about collaboration and gave us the inspiration and confidence to move toward collaborative intelligence. To start, we're indebted to Al Ramadan, Jason Wellcome, Mike Bruno, and Ashli Walkiewicz at Play Bigger for setting us on this journey. But there are many others, including Fede Nahon from Arketify, Dave Gray and Sunni Brown from Gamestorming, and everyone in our Playmaker community.

And finally, we thank our customers, without whom this book would not have been possible. We've learned a lot together with you! We thank Rob Dickins, Amy Bunszel, Melissa Schmidt, Eric Fain, and others at Autodesk; Doug Powell, Adam Cutler, Michael Ackerbauer, Katrina Alcorn, Lee Duncan, Sarah B .Nelson, and others at IBM; to Erik Flowers, Leslie Witt, Carvalho, Gerald, and Ariel Alvarez at Intuit; Rob Poel and Usam Shen from Steelcase; Thomas Weis, Fabian Leitz, and Ingo Widmann at SAP; Leticia Britos Cavagnaro, Janaki Kumar, and Sam Yen at the d.School; Pete Bellamy, Kelly Cooper, Ashley Becker, and others at EY; Tim Brown, Pontus Wahlgren and Joe Gerberds at IDEO…and the countless others from companies—such as Accenture, USAA, Spotify, Vanguard, Facebook, Allstate, Publicis Groupe, ThoughtWorks, Booz Allen Hamilton, Kyndryl—who have provided inspiration, encouragement, and support over the past decade.
