Acknowledgments

No writer is an island, and this book exists only thanks to the goodwill of many busy entrepreneurs who generously shared their insights into the real-world challenges of communicating at the edge of innovation. I’m grateful to all the people who agreed to my request for an interview: Mike Cyr, Anirudh Kuhl, Antoine Bonicalzi, Christine Ward-Paige, Hussein Hallak, Mandy Wintink, Janet Bannister, Kevin Canning, Kyle Rogers, Richard Howe, Laurie Sinclair, Karen Lightstone, Stephen Bartol, Valerie Song, Kelsey Snowdon, and Dave Belt. I learned much from each of you and treasure the different ways you helped bring the book’s concepts to life.

I’m also grateful for Jennifer LaPlante and Peter Secord, who gave me valuable feedback on the draft manuscript. Your interest in the project kept me charging for the finish line, and your insights have improved the final product.

Thank you to the staff at BEP who made the messy work of birthing a book a seamless process, especially Rob Zwettler, Debbie DuFrene, Charlene Kronstedt, and Rene Caroline.

And many thanks to my partner Jack Kivik for helping with the tedious process of combing through the manuscript for typos and punctuation errors.

Finally, I’m especially thankful for my daughter, Claire, who never once complained that book-writing cut into our summer vacation time and cheered me on from chapter to chapter. She inspires me daily in more ways than I can count.
