Over the past 20 years, the power and popularity of video games have exploded. Today users interact with such games using a myriad of devices and pro-sports teams of game players have emerged. Augmented reality is the use of computer technology to enhance items that exist in the real world. Using augmented reality, a sports fan can watch a sporting event from court side, users can try on glasses and clothes virtually, and more. In the near future, software programs will leverage holograms, as shown in FIGURE 20-6, to change how we chat, shop, order fast food, watch concert events, and even interact with customer support.
